These terms apply when you use the Cover Captain website. The most important points: we are not an insurer, we do not give financial advice, we are paid a referral fee by the adviser we introduce you to, and anything you are told before you apply is an estimate rather than a quote.
1.About us and this website

2.What we do — and what we do not do
We operate an online check that collects some basic details and introduces you to a licensed financial adviser.
We are not an insurer. We do not issue policies, we do not decide whether you are accepted for cover, and we do not assess or pay claims.
We do not provide financial product advice. Nothing on this website is personal advice, general advice or a recommendation. Nothing here takes into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Before deciding on any insurance product you should read the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and the Target Market Determination (TMD) for that product, and consider whether it is appropriate for you.
3.How we are paid
Our service is free to you. We are paid a referral fee by the licensed adviser we introduce you to. That fee does not change what you pay for any policy you take out.
4.Who can use this service
You may use the online check only if you are at least 18 years old, an Australian resident, and providing your own details or the details of someone who has authorised you to do so. Cover through our adviser panel is generally available to Australian residents aged 18 to 75.
5.What you agree to when you submit the form
- That the information you give us is true and accurate. Incorrect information can affect eligibility, pricing and, later, a claim.
- That you are asking us to introduce you to a licensed financial adviser, and asking that adviser to contact you by phone, SMS and email about life insurance and related cover.
- That we may collect and disclose your information as set out in our Privacy Policy and Collection Notice, including the health information you provide.
- That you may withdraw your request at any time by contacting us.
6.Estimates are not quotes
Important. Any figure discussed with you before you formally apply is an estimate only. It is not an offer of insurance and it is not a guarantee that cover will be issued or issued at that price. The insurer’s underwriting process determines your final premium, the terms of your cover, and whether cover is offered at all.
7.The adviser and the insurer are separate businesses
The licensed financial adviser we introduce you to is an independent business. They are responsible for the advice they give you and for their own conduct. We do not control them, and we are not responsible for the products they recommend, the advice they provide, or any policy you take out.
We do not compare every insurer or every policy available in Australia.
8.Third-party links
This website may link to other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
9.Availability and accuracy
We try to keep this website available and its information current, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or up to date at all times. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it without notice.
10.Intellectual property
The content of this website, including text, design, graphics and the Cover Captain name and logo, is owned by us or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce or use it commercially without our written permission.
11.Acceptable use
You must not use this website to submit false or fraudulent information, submit someone else’s details without their authority, interfere with the site’s operation or security, or use automated means to access or submit to it.
